Only the third release from these young vines at the Arrawatta Vineyard south of Great Western. A coolish and very low yielding year produced a light to medium bodied Grenache with excellent tension and crisp cranberry fruits. The natural ferments, large format old oak and zero movements of the wine up to bottling has preserved every ounce of flavour, aroma and complexity possible. It is a riot of florals, spices and crushed herbs, and will delight right from release.
"Sourced off the Arawatta vineyard , destemmed, natural ferment on skins, maturation in 1000L old oak vars and old 500L puncheons for 7 months. Grenache in the Grampians is pet project for winemaker, Rory Lane, who sees a great future for the grape. Look at that colour, a bright, electric cherry red! The scent is no less bright and perky with cherry bon-bon, musky florals, spice, raspberry and red cherry. It all rolls easily off the tongue." - Jeni Port, 89 points, Wine Companion.
