The Story Wines is oddly located in a drab, southern suburb of Melbourne, Australia. There we receive grapes from some fabulous Grampians and Henty vineyards, and turn them into wine. Each vintage there is a new story to tell, and each year our label changes to reflect that story. Small budgets, small vineyards, engaging subjects.

2013 The Story Westgate Vineyard Marsanne Roussanne Viognier

Cellar Door

From five rows of vines we convinced the grower to plant in 2007, the only Marsanne and Roussanne in the region. A field blend picked all at once and pressed together before being fermented with solids using wild yeasts in old French puncheons and barriques. the 2013 took nearly 12 months to finish primary fermentation in some barrels, and there is a distinct richness and complexity of dried apricot, ginger, meal and pear cider on its mellifluous long palate. We’re getting there stylistically I think – texture without heaviness.

– Vine age: 6 years
– 13.0% alc. pH 3.45
– Total Acidity 4.6g/l
– 220 dozen produced
