The Story Wines is oddly located in a drab, southern suburb of Melbourne, Australia. There we receive grapes from some fabulous Grampians and Henty vineyards, and turn them into wine. Each vintage there is a new story to tell, and each year our label changes to reflect that story. Small budgets, small vineyards, engaging subjects.

2013 Henty Pinot Noir

Cellar Door

This year’s Henty Pinot noir is a blend of two sites, the Rowan’s Lane Vineyard at Warrnambool, planted on black volcanic friable ashy loam over limestone and shells and sand, and the Doevan’s Vineyard at Drumbord, some 100km further west at Drumborg on red/brown basaltic soils. approximately 40% of the wine was fermented using whole bunches, and little new oak was used. It’s a forward, red fruited and earthy flavoured Pinot with enough prettiness to be unmistakeably pinot but with some weight behind it from the warm season. Delicious in youth.

– Vine age: approx 15 years
– 13.5% alc. pH 3.54
– Total Acidity 6.2g/l
– 366 dozen produced
